As an entry-level professional, a Certified Nursing Assistant works in proximity to patients. As much as they are needed in hospitals, they are also employed at long-term care facilities as they are trained to observe and keep track of the health progress of patients. They usually work under the supervision of registered nurses.
In terms of responsibilities, CNAs differ from RNs and LPNs by assisting in Activities of Daily Living. They ensure that the hygiene of patients is well maintained.
Given the time they spend beside patients, CNAs have more opportunities to interact with their care recipients and learn about the conditions of their patients. They can provide emotional support and companionship when needed.
Nursing services of CNAs include but are not limited to:
- Aiding patients’ routine tasks
- Serving meals
- Monitoring patient food and liquid intake
- Taking patients vital signs
- Answering patient calls
- Monitoring patient condition
- Emotional care support
With Wintergreen Staffing, we match the expertise of CNAs to a suitable healthcare facility.
